Siddharth Sirish Desai is a professional Indian Kabaddi player of Maharashtra. He currently represents Vivo Pro Kabaddi Team Telugu Titans. He is a dynamic raider known for his strength. Also, he had previously represented Air India and Maharashtra before making Pro Kabaddi’s debut in Season-6 with U Mumba.
About Siddharth Desai
Siddharth Desai was born on 5 December in the year 1991, in Hundalewadi in Chandgadtaluk of Kohlapur district, Maharashtra. Siddharth Desai was born in an underprivileged family in a small village where he started playing Kabaddi from his childhood.
He used to play Kabaddi on grounds of his village with his friends. Siddharth’s friends used to call him ‘Sid’ In his childhood, he was trained by a well-known coach in his village Appa Dalvi, who was always amazed by Siddharth’s performance. Siddharth’s father and brother both were also Kabaddi players.
He completed his graduation with B.Sc. in Physics and started working in Air India as a Contractor. In Air India, his life completely changed in unexpected ways. While working in Air India he met a Kabaddi Coach Ashok Shinde, who trained Siddharth to play for Air India at domestic level. Ashoka was also impressed by his performance and got him to an auction and from there onwards Siddharth started the journey of his career in his obsession.
Siddharth Desai’s Pro Kabaddi Career
Siddharth Desai made his debut in Season-6 of the Pro Kabaddi League. He was bid by U Mumba for Rs.36.4 lakhs. It was the time when the franchise was looking for a potential raider and he was the one. Siddharth Desai performed beyond everyone’s expectations and made an impression in his first game with Super 10 against Puneri Paltan.
Overall, he gained 218 raid points and a total of 221 raid points in 21 matches played in Season-6 of the Pro Kabaddi League. This made him the fastest player in the entire Pro Kabaddi League history to reach 50 raid points in just 4 matches.
He became a high sensation after his debut season and became the third-highest points scorer of the league after Pardeep Narwal and Pawan Kumar Sehrawat. He achieved the Best Debutant of the Year Award in the year 2018. However, he got released from U Mumba after Season-6 of the Pro Kabaddi League due to his shoulder injury.
In Season-7 of the Pro Kabaddi League, he was bid by Telugu Titans for a huge amount of Rs.1.45 Crore which made him the most expensive player of the season and second most expensive player in the Pro Kabaddi League history after Monu Goyat bid for Rs.1.51 Crore in Season-6 of Pro Kabaddi League.
Outside the mat, Siddharth has a hobby of playing guitar and dancing.
